Teacher Interview

Interview with Mr. Stip

1) Do you think this school is overpopulated?
YES!

2) How do you feel about the over crowding of students and what do you think should be done to fix this problem?
Build another school and send them there. better yet, Northa Vista has enough room, i belive there a bit short on students so they should just send them over there, that way they dont have to spend money.

3) Would you be willing to invest your own personal money into your clasess if the budget gets worse?
I already do in some stuff but yes I would. Wait, no why should I invest in money with kids that aren't even mine? I think supplies should be given but to those students serious in there education. I just dont know how you would determine the serious students.

4) Would you be willing to take in more students if there arent enough teachers?
I have one class with forty-two students already. I would take more but forty-two is the limit.

Survey Analysis

Surveys of five simple questions were administered to one hundred high school students. The questions consisted of student opinions on dorming at their high school, recommended classes, and options in school hours. The results showed that students would most definitely not enjoy living in dorms at their high school. Student’s reasons for this were that it was too closely related to college life and they themselves acknowledge their lack of maturity for such environments. When it came to schedule options students preferred to have a set beginning time and ending time for an average school day. Many students felt that they needed the structure for fear of slacking off. On the other hand students agreed that having an eighty minute lunch would be highly beneficial, reasons being that they would more time to unwind for the remaining classes and more time to go off campus and enjoy meals outside of our school. Students also preferred school staring about an hour later and having school dismissed an hour later. Sleep is very important to a teenager. When it came to classes on campus students wished for classes that would actually benefit them. they suggested more college prep classes, foreign languages, job training, performing arts, cosmetology and other beauty based courses along with auto shop, mechanics and drivers ed.  Over all, students had valid suggestions and reasons for wanting certain changes. They need structure, discipline and organization but also the liberty to choose and have more to option.

SB 1070 Reflection

A lot of valid points were made during the SB 1070 debate. Over all I don’t agree with the law and I am completely against it. I understand that illegal immigration has become a huge problem in the United States and that something must be done to put an end to it. However, the way things have been handled is probably not the smartest and most genuine way possible. Coming to the United States illegally is a crime and there are laws that need to be followed and consequences for those who do otherwise. Illegal immigrants should be asked and forced to leave, but the United States should also make it easier for immigrants to attain their citizenship. By making the process easier and more accessible there is a greater probability of immigrants coming over legally and a guarantee to put and end to the corruption that comes from illegal immigrants.

SB 1070 Supporters and White Supremacists Raise 3.6 Million for Legal Costs

People in Arizona, Puerto Rico and every state in the Union have raised 3.6 million dollars to ensure the survival of racial profiling. Without surprise people in Arizona have contributed the most out of the whole nation. Hate groups have lined up in defense of senate bill 1070. the governer of Arizona has already withdrawn  $440,00 from the legal defense fund so far, it is uncertain if the governer will ever run out of a private fund.

Obama's plan to extend some tax cuts may be gaining traction

President Obama hopes to extend the bush-era tax cuts to those Americans that earn an income of less than $250,000 a year. Many Republicans and even Democrats oppose this idea, many stating that the tax cuts should be extended to all Americans. Debate goes on that in order for our economy to restabilize those tax cuts will eventually have to stop. Open duscussion will be held for the isssue.

Drug lord's arrest called mark of progress against Mexican cartels

Texas fugitive "La Barbie" was captured and arrested for involvement with the mexican cartel "Las Zetas". Officers believe that the capturing of this man shows strength for the Mexican and American government. Although one of the main men involved in the cartel has been captured and a lot of new information has  been given to the authorities, the fear for more problems than solutions is being faced. There no doubt will be a stronger rivalry and deeper war between two of the most powerful mexican cartels known as "Las Zetas" and "La Familia" fight for power.

Mosque Debate Reflection

Before I had even researched the idea of having a Mosque established in the area around ground zero I had decided that I was completly against its creation. As time went by and I kept researching and finding more information on the idea my perspective began to change. I took into consideration all the arguments posted on the question of the week and I put thought into some of the articles I had read. Before our class debate I was so positive in my decision that creating a Mosque around the ground zero was an act of insensitivity and disrespect towards the families and victims of the horrible tragedy that occurred on September 11. As the debate went on the idea that creating a Mosque was a way for Muslims to find peace with the U.S. and in a sense make ammends. I struggled with this idea thinking that if that indeed was their intent their insistance to create the Mosque would have ceased considering that the idea had become such a scandal and had such a negative effect to Americans all over the world. But as we came to the end of our debate I realized that generalizing and holding all Muslims accountable for the actions that only a few mislims set out to do, would be not only unjust but just plain stupid. I realized that America has a constitution. We have laws and we are based on freedon of religion, it is why so many hate us, envy us, and look up to us. It is the reason many leave their home countries. Why change the constitution now? Over a building? If we change it now, when is the next time we will change? To what extent and why? Why are we as a nation to break a promise and a law that has been the core of our way of life. Freedom of religion is the law for all Americans why change it over a building?
