Survey Analysis

Surveys of five simple questions were administered to one hundred high school students. The questions consisted of student opinions on dorming at their high school, recommended classes, and options in school hours. The results showed that students would most definitely not enjoy living in dorms at their high school. Student’s reasons for this were that it was too closely related to college life and they themselves acknowledge their lack of maturity for such environments. When it came to schedule options students preferred to have a set beginning time and ending time for an average school day. Many students felt that they needed the structure for fear of slacking off. On the other hand students agreed that having an eighty minute lunch would be highly beneficial, reasons being that they would more time to unwind for the remaining classes and more time to go off campus and enjoy meals outside of our school. Students also preferred school staring about an hour later and having school dismissed an hour later. Sleep is very important to a teenager. When it came to classes on campus students wished for classes that would actually benefit them. they suggested more college prep classes, foreign languages, job training, performing arts, cosmetology and other beauty based courses along with auto shop, mechanics and drivers ed.  Over all, students had valid suggestions and reasons for wanting certain changes. They need structure, discipline and organization but also the liberty to choose and have more to option.
